The project is part of the official program of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019. In 2021, the project is supported by the National Fund Culture - Annual Program for Support of Professional Organisations in the Field of Arts.īesides this website, the project 'Open Art Files: Topics, People, Spaces, Files in Bulgarian Contemporary Art”consists of an exhibition project which will be popularizing the “Open Arts Files” database and the openartfiles.bg website, an educational panel which will be based on the educational platform “Introduction to Contemporary Art”, and working visits and lectures of international art professionals based on the experience from similar projects of the associated gallery SARIEV Contemporary, such as the project “Plovdiv Working Visits for Curators and Art Critics”. The art file extension is associated with the Art Director, a program for Atari ST/STE a family of 16/32-bit computers, a successor of Atari 8-bit computers. The website “Open Art Files” is part of the project 'Open Art Files: Topics, People, Spaces, Files in Bulgarian Contemporary Art' that seeks to popularize Bulgarian contemporary art in Bulgaria and abroad. The detailed concept of the website “Open Art Files” was developed by the director of Open Arts Foundation Vesselina Sarieva, in collaboration with Svetlana Kuyumdzhieva, artistic director of MF “Plovdiv 2019”, and curator and art historian Vera Mlechevska. The website content is generated in collaboration with more than 20 experts, critics, art historians, over 200 contributors and over 50 spaces for contemporary art and will be constantly updated. The Files panel is an online library (articles, exhibition brochures, catalogues, video archives and other links and archives, some of which have never been available online) generated by the other three panels. In the People panel can be found individual profiles of artists, curators, gallerists, art historians and critics, and in Spaces there is information about state institutions, non-profit creative organizations, private galleries, donor organizations, informal unions – all included on the basis of the content of thematic articles. The Topics panel features specially created for Open Art Files authors‘ texts by critics, curators, art historians and artists serving to navigate the readers. The content of the website is built into four main panels: Topics, People, Spaces and Files, presented in а clear and accessible way. The website is in development and uses both newly created and archival content of the current educational platform 'Introduction to Contemporary Art', developed by Open Arts Foundation and SARIEV Contemporary Gallery.

Openartfiles.bg is a bilingual website that is a database/archive of Bulgarian contemporary art, an online library and an environment for art criticism established in 2019.
